It's important to understand who does what
in our community. Because Highlands Ranch is a master-planned community
located within an unincorporated area in Douglas County, a 3-member Board
of County Commissioners serves as the legislative, policy making, and
administrative body governing areas that include our community. These
commissioners are elected at-large from one of 3 geographical districts
for a four-year staggered term. They serve as our advocates for federal
and state attention to the growing area's transportation and roadway
needs.
